Hortus Tree & Landscape Services has deep roots in the Colorado Springs community. Founded in 1978 by Robert King, our company was built on a simple principle: provide honest, professional tree care that enhances properties and protects families.

For over two decades, Robert King built Hortus into one of the most respected tree service companies in the Pikes Peak region. His dedication to quality work and customer satisfaction established the foundation upon which we continue to build today.

In 2002, Tayde Sotelo-Canas joined the Hortus team, bringing fresh energy and a passion for arboriculture. Through years of dedication and hard work, he mastered every aspect of the business, from technical tree care to customer relations. Recognizing his exceptional abilities and commitment, Robert King entrusted Tayde with full ownership of the company in 2011 upon his retirement.

Since taking the helm in 2012, Tayde has expanded Hortus' services to include comprehensive landscaping and maintenance solutions, positioning the company as a one-stop provider for both residential and commercial clients throughout Colorado Springs and the surrounding areas.

Tayde Sotelo-Canas is an accomplished entrepreneur and seasoned operations leader with more than two decades of experience in arboriculture, landscape management, and logistics. As the Owner and President of Hortus Tree and Landscape Services, Corporation, a trusted Colorado Springs-based firm, Mr. Sotelo is recognized for his commitment to quality, safety, and environmental stewardship.

Mr. Sotelo began his career with Hortus Tree Service in 2002, joining a company deeply rooted in the local community since 1978 under the leadership of founder Robert King. Through dedication and perseverance, he rose through the ranks and, in 2011, was entrusted with full ownership of the company upon Mr. King's retirement - a reflection of his integrity, loyalty, and work ethic.

Since taking the helm in 2012, Mr. Sotelo has expanded Hortus' services to include comprehensive landscaping and maintenance solutions, positioning the company as a one-stop provider for both residential and commercial clients. His hands-on leadership style and strategic vision have guided the company's growth and solidified its reputation for excellence throughout the region.

In 2019, Mr. Sotelo broadened his entrepreneurial reach by founding Fox Trucking, LLC - a logistics company that evolved from a single-truck operation into a dynamic transportation provider serving diverse industries across Colorado. This venture reflects his passion for operational efficiency, innovation, and community-focused business development.

Mr. Sotelo holds a professional tree-trimming license earned in 2011 and is highly respected for his technical expertise and unwavering commitment to customer satisfaction. Beyond his professional achievements, he is a devoted husband and father. Tayde and his wife, Soraida Ortiz-Sotelo, married on May 9, 1998, and are proud parents of six children: Tayde Jr., Joshua, Karen, Danelsy, Julianna, and Leah.

Grounded in his Christian faith, Mr. Sotelo is an active member of Souls Harbor Church and is recognized as a leader within his community. Whether mentoring others, giving back through service, or creating employment opportunities, he embodies the values of faith, family, and integrity in all he does.
